BKFC 68 Newcastle Preview

Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship makes its fourth visit to Newcastle tonight. Two title fights headline BKFC 68.

Unbeaten Agi Faulkner (2-0, 2 KOs) headlines the card against Dawid Oscar (3-1, 2 KOs). The bout is for the BKFC European Heavyweight Title.

Both of Faulkner’s wins have come in the first round. He’s got bludgeoning power, especially with the right hand.

Oscar is coming back up from cruiserweight to battle Faulkner for the belt. He’ll need to be careful early against a heavier foe.

Hodgson vs Cooke

The co-main event is for the BKFC UK Cruiserweight Title. Matty “The Hammer” Hodgson (4-2, 4 KOs) meets Conor Cooke (3-1, 3 KOs).

Hodgson started his career in BKB, where he started his bare knuckle journey with stoppage defeats to Eric Olsen and Ryan Barrett.

He rebounded with wins against Ashley Gibson and Lawrence Tracey before joining BKFC. He earned a title opportunity with stoppage wins over Mason Shaw and Chaz Wasserman.

After defeating Robbie Kennedy and Nathan Owens, Cooke was matched with Oskar at BKFC 60 in Milton Keynes. Oskar defeated Cooke by stoppage. Cooke has since returned with a stoppage win against Shaw.

The Hodgson-Cooke showdown could land the winner a top 5 spot in the BKFC cruiserweight rankings. Chris Camozzi is the newly-crowned champion, after scoring a devastating KO of Sawyer Depee last weekend.

BKFC 68: Other Bouts

Lewis Keen (3-0) returns after a 16-month layoff. Keen meets Ben Bonner (2-1) in a lightweight bout.

Karl Thompson (2-0), who impressively outboxed David Oscar at BKFC 55 in Leeds, is back to take on newcomer Dawid Chylinski. Chylinski has competed in the Bad to the Bone bare knuckle league.

Anthony Holmes looks to get back on track after stoppage defeats to Danny Christie and Bartlomiej Krol. Holmes faces South Africa’s Chas Wasserman.

Krol (3-1) battles fellow Pole Matthew Wiwczaryk (1-0) in a light heavyweight battle.

Gary Fox (2-2) faces John Spencer (0-2) in a featherweight bout.

Unbeaten bantamweight Bradley Taylor (2-0) collides with Robbie Brown (2-2). Brown looks for his second straight win after defeating Jordan Ward in Coventry in August.

Paul Cook (2-0) and Luke Beamish (1-0) toe the line in a match up of unbeaten welterweight prospects.

Veteran Lee Browne looks to get back in the winner’s circle against Matty Hill. Browne is winless in his last four BKFC UK bouts.

Danny Moir is back in the BKFC Squared Circle in Newcastle. Moir successfully debuted with a win over John Ferguson at the BKFC Prospects Newcastle event in June. Opposing Moir is the debuting Kyle Redfearn.

The fight card kicks off with a welterweight bout between newcomer Oskar Smykiel and well-traveled veteran Will Cairns.
