Undefeated heavyweight contender Leonardo Perdomo repeated a July win over Arnold Adams, again knocking out the former BKFC heavyweight champion in the first round. The bout headlined BKFC 80 Friday night in Florida.
There had been controversy in the first Perdomo-Adams fight. Cuba’s Perdomo hit Adams while he was down, and the referee counted Adams out after a second knockdown though Perdomo didn’t go to a neutral corner.
The sequel held no controversies. Keeping low, Perdomo (9-0, 9 KOs) pressed Adams, leading with a hook followed by an uppercut.
A Perdomo jab caught Adams coming in, dropping the former champion. Adams (7-5, 5 KOs) tried to battle but a Perdomo hook felled the former champion again. Adams pounded the canvas in agony before the referee counted him out at the 1:09 mark of round one.


Plazaola Hunts Down Fox
Featherweight contender Edgard Plazaola (6-0, 5 KOs) defeated UK featherweight champion Gary Fox by unanimous decision in the co-feature. Official scores were 50-44, 50-43, and 50-44.
Nicaragua’s Plazaola came forward and landed the better shots as Fox tried to box. Plazaola knocked Fox down in round three and stunned the Brit in the fifth and final round. Fox (4-3, 3 KOs) showed his chin and courage in defeat, while Plazaola moves closer to a title shot against reigning champion Kai Stewart.

Yoel Romero Impresses in BKFC Debut
UFC veteran Yoel Romero debuted impressively at BKFC 80, stopping Theo Doukas in the second round.
Romero, a 2000 Cuban Olympian and 5-time Pan Am freestyle wrestling champion, studied Doukas in round one, moving out of range when Doukas attacked.
In round two, Romero picked up the pace. He caught Doukas with a good left, dropping him with a follow up left.
Left uppercuts scored knockdowns two and three, with Doukas telling the referee he was done after the third. Doukas also made his BKFC debut.

David Simpson Stuns Jeremy Smith
In a match up between veterans, David Simpson (3-4, 3 KOs) scored an early knockout over Jeremy Smith (3-4, 2 KOs).
The shorter Smith advanced behind a tight guard. Simpson switched between orthodox and southpaw, looking for openings.
Simpson stunned Smith with an uppercut. He followed Smith to the ropes and let his hands go, A couple of clean punches connected on the dazed Smith, and the referee stopped the fight as Smith tried covering up.
