Hometown hero Eddie Alvarez takes on fellow UFC veteran Jeremy Stephens in the Knuckle Mania V main event on 25 January in Philadelphia.
BKFC announced the news today.
It’s Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship’s first visit to Philadelphia, the legendary boxing fight town nicknamed “The City of Brotherly Love”.
The event has both professional and personal meaning for BKFC President David Feldman. Feldman is the son of the late Marty Feldman, a respected boxing figure in the Philadelphia area who trained former light heavyweight champ “Prince” Charles Williams.
“I’m am so very honored to promote KnuckleMania V, our first BKFC event in my lifelong hometown, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania,” Feldman said.
“I promised myself when I started this company that if we got to Philly we would promote our biggest and best event as a tribute to this great city and its legacy of the toughest teams in pro sports; The Eagles, The Phillies, The Flyers and The Sixers.”
“Philadelphia is a very proud city that has produced some of the baddest and toughest fighters and the battle between Eddie Alvarez and Jeremy Stephens will further cement the city’s fighting legacy.”
“We’ll have many more great fights to announce for KnuckleMania V and we look forward to a historic night for Philadelphia sports on Saturday, January 25 at the Wells Fargo Arena.”
Alvarez, a former Bellator and UFC champion, debuted in BKFC with a victory over Chad Mendes. He lost to another UFC vet, Mike Perry, by TKO to even out his BKFC record at 1-1. “The Underground King” is a longtime East Coast fan favourite now fighting out of Florida.
Stephens debuted in BKFC in December 2023 with a TKO over Jimmie Rivera, another UFC veteran. He followed up with a win over contender Bobby Taylor in September.
Both guys are known to bring aggression, skill and power to the table. It figures to be an entertaining, bloody and bruising battle while it lasts.
Knuckle Mania V takes place at the Wells Fargo Arena in Philadelphia on 25 January. The event will be broadcast exclusively on DAZN, which signed a broadcast agreement with BKFC earlier this year.
More fights will be announced in the coming weeks. It figures to be the biggest BKFC event to date.
