BKFC Mohegan Sun Fight Night Prelim Results

Lightweight: Ashton Caniglia (1-0) def. Travis Demko (0-1)-Round 4: Disqualification
The opener was a battle of experienced MMA fighters making their BKFC debuts. Demko and Caniglia battled it out in round one, with Demko landing solid rights and Caniglia scoring well with lefts.

The pace slowed in rounds two and three. Caniglia countered effectively when Demko lunged, and seemed to have the edge.

In round four, the action was interrupted after Caniglia complained of an eye poke, the second time in the fight. The fighters clinched again and Caniglia came away and complained of another eye attack. The referee disqualified Lumko although the replay couldn’t show Lumko’s finger made contact with Caniglia’s eye.

Light Heavyweight: Joe Peters (2-0) def. David Burke (0-1) vs -TKO Round 1 (Doctor Stops Contest)
The back-and-forth light heavyweight battle between Peters and Burke ended in disappointment after Burke suffered a nasty cut on the lip.

The well-built Burke landed a good left seconds in but was soon knocked down by a Peters left. Burke landed some short rights to knock Peters down.

Peters fought back and knocked Burke down late in the round before the doctor stopped the fight in between rounds.

Heavyweight: Guilherme Viana (debut) def. Aleem Whitfield (0-2)-KO Round 2
Viana, a 13-fight pro MMA veteran from Brazil, was too powerful for pro boxer Whitfield.

Whitfield went down from a counter left in round one and another left hook in round two. Whitfield moved his head nicely defensively but was outgunned.

BKFC Fight Night Mohegan Sun: Main Card Results

Lightweight: Rico DiSciullo (2-0) def. Stash Kuykendall (0-2)-KO Round 1
DiSciullo finished Kuykendall early with a combination as Kuykendall was on the ropes. Kuykendall went down and couldn’t beat the referee’s count. Kuykendall landed a good punch or two early, and suffered a bad eyelid cut before the stoppage.

Women’s Strawweight: Gabrielle Roman (2-3-1) def. Crystal Van Wyk (2-2)-TKO Round 1
Roman snapped a three fight losing streak with an upset win over Van Wyk.

Switching between orthodox and southpaw, Roman connected often with lefts, and Van Wyk suffered a swelling and cut under the lower left eyelid. The doctor checked the cut and didn’t like what he saw. The ref waved off the fight.

Bantamweight: Sito Navarro (4-1) def. Anthony Sanchez (1-3)-Split Decision
Navarro defeated Sanchez in a close fight. Judges’ scores were 49-46 and 48-47 for Navarro, while the other judge favoured Sanchez by 48-47.

Middleweight: Gary Balletto (2-0) def. Skyler Mauller (1-2)-TKO Round 2
Balletto had too much skill and firepower for Mauller. Balletto knocked down the outgunned Mauller five times before referee Andrew Glenn waved off the fight in round two.

Lightweight: Peter Barrett (2-0) def. Anthony Pike-Split Decision
Barrett won a close split decision over Pike to remain unbeaten in the featured fight.

Middleweight: Pat Casey (3-2) def. David Sanchez (2-1)-TKO Round 1
Casey spoiled Sanchez’s perfect BKFC record by one-sided TKO in the co-main event.

Casey knocked Sanchez down early in round one and controlled the bout before landing a right-left hook combination for the fight’s second knockdown. Sanchez beat the count but the referee waved off the fight.

Heavyweight: Parker Porter (3-0) def. Anthony Garrett (3-1)-KO Round 2
Porter sent the local fans home happy with a sensational comeback win over Garrett.

Porter was knocked down three times after an early knockdown of Garrett. He survived the round.

The two fighters picked up where they left off in round two, trading wildly. A Porter left caught Garrett near the right eye and dropped him. Garrett didn’t beat the referee’s count and the fight was over.

An amazing battle and one of the best heavyweight fights of 2025! A great way to end the year.
