After a sensational debut in Cardiff, BYB is back in the U.S. for BYB 31 this Saturday September 21.
Eight bare-knuckle bouts are scheduled for BKB 31, taking place at the Stockyard Event Center in Denver.
Tanori, Irwin Rematch for Belt
The main event is a rematch of one of 2023’s best bouts.
Julio Tanori-Rodriguez defends his BYB Police Gazette Diamond Lightweight Title against Mark Irwin.
Tanori-Rodriguez snatched the belt from Irwin by majority decision at BYB 22 last year. It was a bloody back-and-forth brawl, with both fighters tasting the canvas. The 22-year-old Tanori improved his bare knuckle record to 3-0 (2 KOs) while going the distance for the first time in The Trigon, BYB’s patented triangle-shaped ring.
Nine months later, he and Irwin resume hostilities, once again in Denver. Bragging rights and championshp gold are on the line.
Women in Action at BYB 31
Women’s bare knuckle boxing has exploded in popularity recently, with female fighters headlining various fight cards.
Female bare knuckle aficionados can look forward to two bare knuckle bouts at BYB 31.
Champ Juarez Faces Kamyron
Paty Juarez, the reigning BYB Women’s Police Gazette Lightweight Champion, takes on spoiler Khortni Kamyron.
Juarez is a two-time champion, regaining the belt from Monica Medina last December. The Mexican warrior then posted a stoppage over Pavla Kladivova in May to improve her BYB record to 5-1 (2 KOs).
Kamyron makes her BYB debut after posting a 1-1-1 record in other bare knuckle competition. She holds a unanimous points win over BKFC contender Crystal “The Rugged Beauty” Pittman.
Kamyron faces an uphill challenge. Juarez is her toughest opponent to date, and she’ll need to adjust to fighting in the Trigon. The Trigon’s unusual shape means it’s more difficult to escape corners, and its surface area is much smaller than normal rings. It’s no accident that over 80 percent of BYB fights end by stoppage.
Williams Takes on Dees
In the other women’s bout, Kayla Williams makes her BYB debut against returning Casie Dees. Williams is unbeaten in bare knuckle (1-0). Dees meanwhile is looking for her first BYB win after coming up short against Skylar Burns and Jessika Smith.
BYB 31: Unbeaten McMillan, Veterans Williams, Angelo, Parker Return
In other BYB action, unbeaten Kylle McMillan (2-0) looks for his third BYB win against Javon Wright (0-1).
Tough veteran Henry Williams (4-2, 3 KOs) is currently on a two-fight win streak. Tommy Aaron (1-0 bare knuckle record) will try to upset the streaking Williams. Aaron is a veteran of over 20 MMA fights and makes his BYB debut.
Joey Angelo (1-1 BYB) is back in the Trigon after a two-year absence. The skilled Angelo won his BYB debut before injuring his bicep against Brandon “Boss Hogg” Johnson at BYB 10. He’ll face a talented professional boxer in Emil Markic.
Croatia’s Markic brings an impressive 36-5 pro boxing record into the confrontation with Angelo. He defeated former light heavyweight and cruiserweight champion Tomas Adamek in 2019, and has also faced contenders like Brandon Glanton, Callum Johnson, and Umar Salamov.
Markic has competed in bare knuckle once before. He impressively stopped Albert Scamp at a BKB event in London in 2022.
Art Parker is one of BYB’s most colourful characters. Whether it’s stripping to a thong at a weigh-in or in-ring antics, Parker is a born entertainer.
The self-proclaimed “Filipino Street Karate Master” looks to end a two-fight skid Saturday. Parker faces debuting Michael Santos.
A heavyweight match up rounds out the card. MMA veteran Cody Terry East meets Lucas Kailing. Both fighters are making their BYB debuts, and will look to make an impression.
