BYB 35: Nelson-Connelly OFF, Rest of Saturday’s Card to Go Ahead

Saturday night’s BYB 35: Albuquerque Brawl is going ahead without the main event.

The scheduled world title match between defending champion LT Nelson and challenger James Connelly has been postponed, after an apparent misunderstanding between the promotion and the New Mexico Athletic Commission.

Nelson and Connelly were supposed to be fighting a scheduled six rounder for Nelson’s BYB Police Gazette Super Middleweight Title. The two previously fought to a draw in 2023.

But the New Mexico Athletic Commission does not allow six-round bare knuckle title fights like some other states. They were willing to sanction the fight as a five rounder, but the fighters didn’t agree.

BYB released the following statement:

Connelly discussed the postponement in a video shared by BYB on its social media pages.

The welterweight title match between Walter Saravia and Javon Wright is the new main event scheduled for five rounds.

BYB 35 will air on BEin Sports and Fuse in the United States and BKB World pay-per-view in the UK.
