Champion Mundell Rising in Weight to Challenge for Another Title

BKFC Middleweight Champion David Mundell will move up in weight to challenge light heavyweight titlist Josh Dyer on 15 November. The promotion announced the fight Saturday.

Redneck on the Rise

Mundell, nicknamed “Redneck”, is one of BKFC’s most improved fighters, winnning 8 straight bouts since a decision loss to Hector Lombard in 2020.

The onetime MMA fighter won the BKFC middleweight title with a spectacular stoppage of Francesco Ricchi in December 2022. Mundell (10-1, 7 KOs) has since successfully defended the belt with stoppage wins over Mike Richman, Harry Coltrane and Danny Christie. In his last bout, Mundell won a unanimous decision over Donald Sanchez in June.

Mundell fights out of the Shift MMA Gym in Jacksonville, Florida. It’s the same gym where BKFC women’s featherweight champ Jessica Borga and former light heavyweight champion Jared Warren train.

First Title Defence for Josh Dyer

Dyer enters the BKFC 84 showdown with an impressive record of 5-1 (5 KOs) with 2 No Contests.

Dyer has wins over Warren, Dakota Cochrane and Mike “The Marine” Richman, whom he defeated for the belt in May. Dyer can be stylistically awkward and carries legit power-Mundell will have to be careful.

It’s an appealing match up that could go either way. If Mundell wins, he could face Mike Perry next. Mundell and Perry had a faceoff after Perry defeated Jeremy Stephens last night at BKFC 82.
