Former Boxing Champion Lee Selby Signs With BKB

Former featherweight boxing champion “Lightning” Lee Selby has signed a contract with BKB Bare Knuckle Boxing. BKB announced the signing in a press release this evening.

“I’ve achieved everything in gloved boxing – from regional titles to defending my world title five times. Now, bare knuckle is calling,” said Selby.

“Lee Selby is a true champion with an incredible resume, and we’re honored to have him join our roster. His technical mastery and championship mentality will light up the trigon,” added BKB Founder and President Mike Vazquez.

Selby, nicknamed “Lightning” and “The Welsh Wizard”, went 28-4 during a 14-year pro boxing career. The Barry, Wales product held the IBF Featherweight Title between 2015 and 2018, and faced the likes of Fernando Montiel, Josh Warrington, Ricky Burns and George Kambosos during an accomplished career.

Selby retired from the ring in after a 2022 stoppage lost to Gustavo Lemos-the only time he was stopped in his pro career. Four years later, Selby will make his combat sports return at age 39, perhaps inspired by the recent success of fellow former boxing champion Paulie Malignaggi.

Selby joins Malignaggi, Yuriorkis Gamboa, and Lucas “Big Daddy” Browne as former boxing champions who took the gloves off to trade knuckles in BYB’s Mighty Trigon.

“Lee Selby is another game-changer for our organization. His world title pedigree, defensive brilliance, and proven ability at the highest levels make this a massive addition. We’re excited to watch him chase bare knuckle glory alongside our growing stable of world-class talent,” said BKB CEO David Tetreault.
