Former WBA boxing champion Lucas Browne will challenge Gustavo Trujillo for the BKB Heavyweight Title on 22 November in Florida.
Browne replaces combat sports veteran Tony Johnson Jr, who lost a five-round decision in an MMA bout last weekend.
The opponent change may result in a more challenging test for Trujillo. “The Cuban Assassin” has knocked out all 7 of his opponents in the first round, but Browne is the most accomplished boxer he’s faced.
“Big Daddy” is 31-7 with 27 Kos as a professional boxer and defeated Ruslan Chagaev for the WBA Heavyweight Title in 2016.
Browne has faced the likes of Chagaev, Dillian Whyte, James Toney, and Jarrell Miller in a career that started in 2009.
He’s fought without gloves once. In September, he debuted for BKB with second-round TKO over Corey Harrison in Bristol.
Not many fighters want to face the dangerous Trujillo.
Browne said it was an offer he couldn’t turn down.
“I’m the sort of man who never looks at an opportunity like this and says no I won’t or can’t, it’s a massive opportunity and I’m taking it with both hands,” he said.
“It’s something that doesn’t come around often for many people so I will never not give it a try. I’m thankful to the BKB for considering me and I’ll make them proud also.”
