UK’s Fox Faces Unbeaten Plazaola at BKFC 80 Hollywood

BKFC UK Featherweight Champion Gary Fox meets unbeaten Edgard Plazaola in a title eliminator Friday at BKFC 80.

Fox (4-2, 3 KOs) makes his American debut. The former pro boxer is coming off a win against previously unbeaten Jonno Chipchase in March. The fight was stopped after the first round due to a cut suffered by Chipchase.

Plazaola (5-0, 5 KOs) defeated former title challenger Louie Lopez by 3rd round TKO in his last fight in May. The Nicaragua native has impressed and will have the local Florida crowd behind him when the bell rings.

It’s a big challenge for Fox and a step up for Plazaola. The winner could be in line for a shot at the BKFC Featherweight Title, currently held by Kai Stewart.

Perdomo, Adams to Run it Back at BKFC 80

The BKFC 80 main event matches unbeaten knockout artist Leonardo Perdomo (8-0, 8 KOs) and former BKFC heavyweight champion Arnold “AJ” Adams (7-4, 5 KOs).

It’s a rematch. Perdomo defeated Adams by first-round stoppage in July, but not without controversy.

Perdomo knocked Adams down but landed another punch while Adams was still on the canvas. The referee immediately deducted a point from Perdomo and gave Adams five minutes to recover.

Adams took a couple of minutes to get his head together. After the action resumed, Perdomo knocked Adams down again, winning the fight and extending his first-round knockout streak to 8.

Not only did Perdomo hit Adams while he was already down, the Cuban also didn’t go to a neutral corner after knocking Adams down the second time. The referee shouldn’t have counted until Perdomo was in a neutral corner. Fighters are responsbile for following the rules.

While the late punch and count issues may not have changed the outcome, BKFC felt they were legitimate enough to arrange a rematch.

What can Adams do differently to neutralise Perdomo’s aggressive style? Fans will find out this weekend.

Light heavyweight veterans Jeremy Smith and David Simpson will face each other on the BKFC 80 main card.
