BKB Bare Knuckle Boxing released the fight week schedule for its biggest event to date, BKB 48, taking place this Saturday 22 November.
BKB 48: Night of Four Kings takes place at the Charles F Dodge City Centre in Pembroke Pines, Florida, USA. Tickets are available from Ticketmaster.
The BKB 48 fight card includes four world title fights and two title eliminators.
BKB 48 Main Event: Gustavo Trujillo vs Lucas “Big Daddy” Browne
Gustavo Trujillo, bare knuckle’s most fearsome fighter and the reigning BKB World Heavyweight Champion, defends his title for the second time in the main event. “The Cuban Assassin” faces former WBA Heavyweight Champion Lucas “Big Daddy” Browne.
Trujillo’s bare knuckle record is an impressive 7-0. All of the wins have come by first-round stoppage.
The Cuban’s victim list includes current BKFC champion Lorenzo Hunt, UFC veteran Mike Kyle, and former BKB champions Ike Villanueva and Richie Leak.
Browne is the most accomplished pure boxer Trujillo has faced. “Big Daddy” will look to shock the oddsmakers and win a second world title in a second combat sport.
BKB 48 Co-Main Event: Barry Jones vs Cub Hawkins
Originally, the BKB 48 co-main event matched rivals Barrie Jones and Lorawnt Nelson in a rematch for Nelson’s BKB World Super Middleweight Title.
Nelson suffered a clavicle injury while sparring, and none other than Cub Hawkins stepped in and agreed to face Jones.
Hawkins is the reigning BKB Cruiserweight champion and former light heavyweight king. He lost the light heavy belt to Gregoris Cisneros, who was in turn knocked out by Jones in stunning fashion earlier this year.
Jones will defend the BKB World Light Heavyweight Title against Hawkins.
“The Welsh Wrecking Machine” has said this is a must win fight for him. A loss leaves the 40-year-old Jones in no-mans-land, an older fighter without a belt and loser in 2 of his last 3 world title bouts.
Hawkins has the opportunity to regain his light heavyweight crown. Looking ahead, Cub could get the chance to win a third title at super middleweight against Nelson if he’s victorious. Hawkins moved down to super middleweight in September and defeated Joseph Brett Williams.
BKB 48: Other Title Bouts
The third BKB 48 title bout is between lightweight champion Jarod Grant and top contender Jon Barnard.
Rounding out the world title fights is a battle for the super cruiserweight belt vacated by Marko Martinjak. Yordan Fuentes faces Julian Fernandez to succeed Martinjak, known as “The Emperor of BKB”.
All eight title fight participants will be part of the “Fighter Sitdown” taking place this Thursday 20 November at 4pm local Florida time (9pm UK time).
You can watch the interviews live on the BKB Bare Knuckle Boxing YouTube channel.
