BKB 50 Fight Results & Highlights

BKB Bare Knuckle held it’s milestone 50th event Saturday night in Miami.

It was an entertaining night of bare knuckle action with plenty of knockdowns and knockouts.

Alberto Blas def. Harold McQueen-TKO Round 3

It took Alberto Blas longer than usual but the result was the same.

The Cuban knockout artist captured the BKB Super Featherweight Title Saturday with a third-round TKO over Harold McQueen. The bout headlined BKB 50: Revolution in Miami.

Before Saturday, no opponent had lasted a full round against Blas (8-0, 8 KOs). McQueen is the first man to extend the Cuban, but he eventually suffered the same fate as previous Blas opponents.

McQueen (3-3) started fast and had a good first round. By round two though, McQueen was tired and grabbed Blas at every opportunity. Referee Sam Burgos warned McQueen about his excessive holding.

Blas found a home for his counter right hook early in the third. He dropped the exhausted McQueen twice with the shot early in the round.

McQueen was out of gas and ideas. Blas dropped him for the third and fourth time with uppercuts, and Burgos wisely waved off the fight

Blas said it was a historic win.

“I’m two-time world champion,” he told interviewer Gareth Davies.

“Two division champion. I’m the only guy in the world to have different belt in different division in different company,” he said.

Blas previously held the BKFC Bantamweight Title before he left the organisation and joined BKB. In modern bare knuckle, he is the first fighter to win belts in two major organisations.

“BKB Who is next?”, Blas asked at the end of the postfight interview.

There probably won’t be a long line of challengers. Blas once again showed the athleticism, skill and power that makes him one of the best bare knuckle fighters in the world.

Jamie Driver def. Bianca Daimoni-Unanimous Decision

In the BKB 50 co-main event, women’s welterweight champ Jamie Driver retained her title by unanimous decision over Bianca Daimoni. Judges’ scores were 58-55, 58-55 and 57-56.

It was a tactical affair. Daimoni fought off the back foot and looked to counter while Driver initiated. Driver jabbed and feinted and tried to get Daimoni out of position, but the Brazilian didn’t take many risks.

After the third round, fans booed the lack of action. Driver injured her right hand and jabbed and hooked with the left.

Daimoni caught Driver with a left while she was off-balance late in round six for the bout’s only knockdown. It wasn’t enough to turn the fight on the judges’ scorecards after five rounds of counter-minded fighting.

Driver apologised to the crowd but defended her performance.

“Listen, I’m really sorry guys. This is not what you came to see,”

“But I am gonna tell you something. All you pussies are sitting in the seats right now while I’m fighting, and I broke my arm in the second round. That’s why.”

“So, I still fucking fought and put on a show,” she said as the crowd jeered.

NO Contest Between Cecilia Ulloa and Nelsey Torres

The women’s super flyweight bout between Cecilia Ulloa and Nelsey Torres ended in disappointment. Torres injured her right knee in round one and the fight was stopped in round two and declared a no contest. An emotional Torres sobbed and hugged her trainer after the bout. The Torres camp alleged Ulloa used an illegal knee that caused the injury.

Henry Williams def. Jordan Nash-TKO Round 4

Middleweight contender Henry Williams (7-2) defeated Jordan Nash by fourth-round TKO in the fight of the night.

Williams knocked Nash down twice with body shots in round one, and controlled the bout with his boxing skills and accuracy.

Nash (2-3) was cut in round one and bled throughout but kept coming foward, After the fourth round, the fight was stopped in his corner by the doctor.

“I’m already the champion, man. Just mail me my belt,” said Williams.

“And look, my new name is Homicide Hank.”

It’s the fifth straight win for Williams, who’s evolved into a contender after losing back-to-back fights to Manuel de la Torre and Tommy Turner.

Yuniesky Gonzalez def. Zion Tomlinson-TKO Round 1

Former boxing contender Gonzalez established himself as a BKB cruiserweight contender with an impressive stoppage win against veteran Tomlinson.

Tomlinson tried to keep the fight at close range. He grabbed the one-handed plum and worked uppercuts but Gonzalez had too much firepower.

Gonzalez dropped Tomlinson twice with body shots. After the second knockdown, Tomlinson switched to southpaw and bravely tried to stand toe-to-toe with Gonzalez.

Gonzalez hurt him again and knocked Tomlinson down for the third time with a right to the head. He beat the count but referee Burgo had seen enough. Gonzalez improves to 2-0 while Tomlinson’s record is now 5-5.

Aaron McCallum def. Serob Minasyan-TKO Round 1 (Injury)

Britain’s McCallum won his third straight bout when Minasyan couldn’t continue because of injury.

McCallum (9-6) dropped Minasyan early with a right hand and hurt him again before round one ended. Minasyan hurt his hand and the fight was stopped after the docter checked the injury between rounds. Minasyan is now 2-2. The loss ended a two-fight win streak for the Armenian fighter.

Matt Socholotiuk def. Rene Rodriguez-TKO Round 3

In the other BKB 50 main card bout, Matt Socholotiuk defeated Rene Rodriguez by TKO. Rodriguez couldn’t continue after the third round.

German Torres, Rudisiel Mora and Austin Spivey picked up wins in the preliminary bouts.
