BKFC Fight Night Newcastle: Terrill vs Ghost Results

Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship returned to Newcastle’s Utilita Arena on Saturday for its latest UK event. The event streamed live worldwide on the BKFC + App, Triller TV, Fubo Sports and DAZN.

BKFC Fight Night Newcastle Prelims Results

Stew Martin def. Jordan Burnett-TKO Round 1
In the lightweight opener, Stew Martin (1-0) dropped Jordan Burnett with a right to the chin early in round one.

Burnett fought back gamely but Martin consistently landed clean right hands. Late in round one, Burnett took a knee after more Martin heavy artillery.

The fight was stopped between rounds giving Martin the victory by first-round TKO.

Jeff Saunders KO3 Bartek Kanabey
17-1 pro boxer Saunders impressively debuted with a third-round stoppage of the experienced Kanabey (4-3).

Saunders landed cleanly as Kanabey pressured in round one. Kanabey, UK based of Polish descent, did some good work in the clinch.

In round two, Saunders found his range and dropped Kanabey with a combination ending with a hook. A left hit Kanabey while he was down and the referee warned him.

Saunders knocked Kanabey down again late in round two. Kanabey continued to come forward and wing wide punches, with a swelling under the right eye. A Saunders right ended the fight in round three. Kanabey fell to his knees and couldn’t beat the count.

James Walker def. Mohammad Saleem-TKO Round 4
In the final prelim, unbeaten James Walker (2-0) used his height and reach effectively en route to a fourth-round stoppage over Mohammad Saleem (1-1).

After a quiet first, Walker dropped Saleem with a right as he closed the distance in the second.

Walker knocked Saleem down again in round three as he continued to use his size advantages. In round four, Saleem went down from a combination. He bravely got up but his corner stopped the fight between rounds.

BKFC Fight Night Newcastle: Main Card Results

Mikey Henderson def. Liam Dooley-TKO Round 1
Henderson used his jab and movement effectively against the shorter Dooley before the fight ended after the first round.

Dooley came out fast but was cut underneath the right eye seconds in. Henderson landed clean lefts as Dooley pressured.

Between rounds, the doctor examined Dooley’s cut and the fight was called off.

Henderson improves to 3-0. Dooley is now 1-1.

James Lilley def Yannick Van Dinther-KO Round 1
Former title challenger James Lilley (10-3-1, 6 KOs) scored a quick win over late substitute Yannick Van Dinther (1-1).

Lilley pressured Van Dinther from the get go and ate some shots on the way in before he ended the fight with a big left.

Lewis Keen def. Jon Telfer-Unanimous Decision
Hometown favourite Keen impressively outboxed the tough Telfer to earn a unanimous decision in a lightweight bout.

Keen, a southpaw, puzzled Telfer with his quickness and movement. He moved out of range or slipped punches effectively, and landed lefts cleanly to body and head.

Telfer went down twice-in rounds one and four. His face showed the effects of Keen’s punches by the fifth.

Judges’ scores were 50-43 (twice) and 50-44 for Keen, whose only defeat is to former interim champion Ben Bonner.

Dec Spelman def. Johnny Redmond-TKO Round 1
Spelman (3-0) was too much for late substitute Redmond (0-1), a MMA veteran from Ireland.

Redmond kept a high guard. Spelman took his time and started to get busier as the round wore on.

He hurt Redmond with an uppercut late in round one. Redmond’s corner stopped the fight between rounds.

Jack Cullen def. Marley Churcher-KO Round 2
In a middleweight battle, Cullen (2-0) stopped veteran Churcher (3-5) with a huge left hook in the second round.

Churcher tried to move and counter against the bigger Cullen. Late in round two, Cullen connected with the hook and Churcher fell flat on his back.

An impressive win for Cullen, a veteran of 29 pro boxing fights and former English middleweight champion.

Joe Lister def. Danny Wall-KO Round 1
Lister was too powerful for Wall in their middleweight matchup.

Lister scored two knockdowns. The second time, Wall stayed on the canvas and indicated he had suffered a knee injury.

Lister improves to 2-1. It was Wall’s bare knuckle debut.

Lewis Garside def. Kieron Sewell-Unanimous Decision
Garside (3-0) remained unbeaten with a unanimous points win over Sewell (2-1) in a fight of the night candidate.

The action heated up late in round one as both men landed cleanly. A Garside right over the top and follow up right hand stunned Sewell.

Sewell seemed to edge round two but started to tire. Garside controlled the third round with is jab.

Garside continued to outbox Sewell down the stretch, as the fatigued “Scumbag” looked for a big punch. The slick Garside slipped punches nicely.

The judges scored the bout 50-45, 49-47, and 48-47 for Garside, who showed he’s worthy of British or European title fight consideration with wins over Sewell, Jono Chipchase and Bartek Kanabey.

Gzim Selmani def. Dan Curtin-TKO Round 2
Former WWE Superstar Selmani had a scary moment early.

He was knocked down early in round one but took over after he got up.

Selmani quickly returned the favour with a knockdown of Curtin.

He knocked Curtin down twice more before the end of round one.

After another Selmani knockdown early in round two, the referee had seen enough and waved off the fight.

Sean Weir def. Matty Hodgson-TKO Round 1
The BKFC Newcastle co-main event featured a lot of clinch fighting early.

Weir connected with a long right and followed up with Hodgson on the ropes.

Hodgson was out on his feet and defenceless and the referee stepped in.

Mick Terrill def. Ghost MacFarlane-TKO Round 1
In the main event, former heavyweight champion Mick Terrill succesfully returned after a 14-month absence.

Terrill defeated McFarlane by TKO when a left jab cut the Scot’s eye and rendered him unable to continue. McFarlane told the referee he couldn’t see, apparently.

The action was heating up when MacFarlane suffered the injury. With the win, Terrill becomes the first-ever BKFC UK heavyweight champion.

BKFC returns to the UK on 30 May with an event in Birmingham. Conor Tierney faces Rico Franco in the main event for the interim welterweight title.
