BKFC Newcastle: Mick Terrill Returns; Gary Fox Faces James Lilley

Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship officially announced the main and co-main events for its return to Newcastle.

BKFC Fight Night Newcastle takes place on 14 March at the Utilita Arena. Tickets are available through Ticketmaster starting today, 29 January.

Former heavyweight champion Mick Terrill makes his “Squared Circle” return in the main event. Terrill (9-2, 9 KOs) hasn’t fought since losing the BKFC Heavyweight Title to Ben Rothwell by devastating knockout at Knucklemania V in Philadelphia. Rothwell caught Terrill with a huge right hand over the top to end the fight in the first round.

Fourteen months later, Terrill is back in action. He’ll face Scotland’s Jay McFarlane. McFarlane is a pro boxing veteran with a 16-8 record. He debuted in bare knuckle last summer with a second-round stoppage over Vladislav Ivashchenko at the inaugural Impact BKB event in Edinburgh. A McFarlane win would put him in instant title contention since Terill is currently BKFC’s number two ranked heavyweight.

The Terrill-McFarlane bout will be for the BKFC UK Heavyweight Title.

Gary Fox Defends Belt Against James Lilley

In the co-feature, UK featherweight champion Gary Fox (4-3, 3 KOs) risks his title against former world title challenger James “Lights Out” Lilley of Wales.

After stunning Jonno Chipchase last March in Manchester, Fox faced undeated contender Edgard Plazaola in the States. Plazaola defeated the tough Fox by unanimous decision.

After losing close decisions to Luis Palomino and Franco Tenaglia, Lilley (9-3-1) was stunned by Felipe Da Silva Maia at BKFC Marbella. Lilley was injured while he warmed up for the match and forced to stand in the pocket with the bigger Da Silva.

Lilley has since moved down ten pounds in weight from lightweight to featherweight (155 to 145 lbs). He successfully debuted in his new weight class with a stoppage win over Fran Suarez on the Tierney-Christie undercard last June.

The Fox-Lilley fight is important for both men. Both fighters need a win to get back into title contention.
