BYB Extreme announced it will return to Denver on 22 February for BYB 37: Denver Brawl IV. The event takes place at the Stockyards Event Center.
Gigliotti Makes First Title Defence
Newly crowned super lightweight champion Harry Gigliotti defends his belt against unbeaten Jon Barnard in the main event.
Gigliotti won the title in October, stopping Northern Ireland’s Joe Fitzpatrick with a body shot in the first round. The win improved the pro boxing veteran’s record to 3-0 (2 KOs) in bare knuckle. Two of the wins have come by first-round stoppage. Gigliotti’s other win is an impressive decision over veteran Rusty Crowder.
Barnard (4-0, 4 KOs) has impressed in three BYB appearances. He debuted at BYB 18 in London, stopping Gareth Van Hoof in two rounds. After a first-round stoppage over Trevor Morris, “Untameable” was matched with featherweight champion Harold McQueen in a title eliminator.
Barnard showed his resilience in the fight, getting up from two first round knockdowns before stopping a spent McQueen in the third round. The win earned Barnard his first chance at a title against Gigliotti.
Peralta and Mota Run it Back
The BYB 37 co-main event is also a title fight.
Women’s featherweight champion Helen Peralta moves up in weight to face Lailane Mota for the vacant BYB Women’s Super Featherweight Title.
The two women are familiar foes. Peralta and Mota fought at BYB 24 last February. The fight ended in a technical draw after Peralta was cut by an unintentional headbutt. The fighters get another chance at proving who’s best, with the inaugural super featherweight belt on the line.
Sam Liera Returns
In the featured fight, unbeaten former champion Sam “The Caveman” Liera returns to the Mighty Trigon.
Liera (6-0, 4 KOs) walked away from the sport after defeating Jose “The Goat” Fernandez at BYB 19 in August 2023. He makes his return against contender Ryan Jett, who Liera defeated by decision in March 2022.
Jett’s (4-2, 2 KOs) only losses are to Liera and current cruiserweight Champion Cub Hawkins. The North Carolina fighter rebounded from the Hawkins loss with a points win over fellow contender Robert Serna in August.
The winner of the Liera-Jett rematch could be in line to face the winner of next month’s LT Nelson-James Connelly title fight at BYB 35.
The UK’s George Taylor and Roberto Duran Jr are also scheduled for action at BYB 37 in separate bouts. Broadcast details are to be announced.
