BKB Bare Knuckle Boxing officially announced Welsh boxing legend Lee Selby will debut for the organisation at BKB 55 on 27 June.
BKB 55: Carnage in Cardiff takes place at the Vindico Arena. Tickets are now on sale online via the Vindico Arena event website.
After an accomplished gloved boxing career, Selby said he’s looking forward to fighting before the Cardiff crowd.
“I’ve achieved everything in gloved boxing from regional titles to five successful world title defences. Now I’m making my bare knuckle debut right here in Cardiff,” he said.
“It’s the purest, no-filter version of the fight game, and I’m excited to bring my speed, skill, and experience to the Trigon.”
“I’m back to show what I can do and chase another world title.”
Selby had his last boxing fight in 2022. He hung up the gloves with a excellent record of 28-4, and won British, Commonwealth, European, and world titles. He joins Austin Trout, Jamel Herring, and BKB stablemates Paulie Malignaggi, Yuriorkis Gamboa and Victor Ortiz as former boxing world champions turned bare knucklers.
BKB CEO David Tetreault described the Welsh legend’s signing as “massive”.
“Lee Selby is a game-changer for our organization. His world title pedigree and championship mentality make him a massive addition to the roster,” said Tetreault.
“We’re thrilled to watch him make his bare knuckle debut in Cardiff and chase bare knuckle glory alongside our growing stable of elite talent,” he said.
Championship Homecoming for Selby
With one of the biggest names in combat sports in Wales headlining, BKB is holding BKB 55: Carnage in Cardiff at the Vindico Arena after recent events at the smaller Vale Arena. The Vindico plays home to the Cardiff Devils of the Elite Ice Hockey League.
It’s the second big UK event in as many months for BKB. In May, BKB visits Manchester’s AO Arena for BKB 54: Mayhem in Manchester. Former boxing champion Malignaggi challenges Rolando Dy for the promotion’s junior middleweight world title in the main event.
