BKB Bare Knuckle continues to make waves in both bare knuckle and boxing by signing well-known Latino boxers. Latinos are the biggest fight fans in the U.S, and it appears BKB is trying to make inroads with Hispanic boxing fans by signing well known Cuban and Mexican-American fighters.
BKB’s two new additions come with a royal bloodline.
Amado Vargas and Fernando Vargas Jr are the sons of none other than former junior middleweight champion and 1996 Olympian, “Ferocious” Fernando Vargas. A phenom, Vargas was an Olympian at age 18 and became the youngest junior middleweight champion of all time at age 21. He faced the likes of Oscar De Hoya, Felix Trinidad, Shane Mosley, Winky Wright and Ike Quartey during a highly memorable 10-year career.
Fernando Jr (17-1, 15 KOs) and Amado (13-0, 6 KOs) are still in the prospect stage of their boxing careers. Unlike a number of other former boxers crossing over to bare knuckle, both men are under age 30 (Fernando Jr is 29 and Amado just 25). Their younger brother Emiliano is a top boxing prospect signed to Bob Arum’s Top Rank boxing promotion. Collectively, the brothers are knnown as “The Vargas Dynasty”.
Fernando Jr said he and his sibilings “see BKB as the future of combat sports.”
“I’m bringing the same ferocious finishing power that earned me the nickname ‘El Feroz’ – the kind of knockout hunger that can make me a world champion here just like my father. This is our chance to step up, fight the legends crossing over, and build our own legacy as bare knuckle icons.”
“We’re in our prime and ready to make our mark as pioneers in bare knuckle. What I bring is nonstop pressure, sharp combinations, and body work that breaks opponents down,” Amado said.
BKB Founder Mike Vazquez is looking forward to seeing his two new signees in action.
“The growth of BKB over the past twelve months has been immense. We’ve signed some of the greatest legends in combat sports. Now, we’re seeing undefeated prospects with world title potential in gloved boxing transition to bare knuckle in their prime – and we’re only going to see more of this. I can’t wait to see the Vargas brothers in the Trigon,” said Vazquez.
