BYB, the American promotion that acquired Britain’s BKB league last year, has signed two more UK fighters to “multi-fight” contracts.
Gypsy Joe Smith
Today, the promotion announced the signing of “Gypsy” Joe Smith (1-0, 1 KO).
The Swansea-based fighter debuted in spectacular fashion at BKB 36: Cardiff Brawl II last Saturday, stopping the more experienced Ryan McCann in one round.
Smith’s performance impressed BYB enough to add Smith to its roster. Smith competed at middleweight against McCann (2-2).
“The Smoke from Stoke”
Last week, BYB convinced Simey Doherty to put pen to paper.
Doherty, nicknamed “The Smoke from Stoke”, fights out of Stoke-on-Trent and has an official record of 4-1 (0 KOs).
The 29-year-old brings an impressive resume to BYB. He won multiple titles competing for the Bad to the Bone promotion, where he defeated BKB veterans Dean “Smudger” Smith and Ionel Levitchi.
Doherty’s first BYB fight was announced today. He’ll face Scotland’s David Winiarski (1-0) at BYB 38 on 22 March in Wolverhampton. Winiarski made his bare knuckle debut last October, defeating Dean Patterson (0-1) at a BYB event in Leeds.
BYB’s next event, BYB 37, takes place on 22 February in Denver, USA.
BYB returns to the UK for BYB 39 on 22 March. Lorawnt “Smash” Nelson defends his BYB Super Middleweight Title against James Connelly in a long-awaited rematch.
