Former champion and Bare Knuckle Hall of Famer Scott McHugh announced his retirement in the ring following his stoppage loss to Rolando Dy Saturday at BKB 60.
“Either way, if I won or lost this fight, thank you to everybody in my bare knuckle career,” McHugh told BKB’s Gareth A Davies.
“Not cause tonight I lost. Congratulations. No excuse.”
“I am done now with the bare knuckle. I’ve got a family. You know, I’ve had 23 professional bare knuckle fights. I’ve been in with them all. I’ve got nothing to prove so thank you everyone,” he said.
“I’m still boxing though but f**k this bare knuckle. I can’t be arsed with it.”
The 34-year-old Leeds man fought some of the toughest men in the toughest combat sport during his eight-year bare knuckle career, winning more than he lost and always giving fans more than their money’s worth.
McHugh faced the likes of James “Lights Out” Lilley, Sean George, Tony Lafferty, and Martin Refell, all top fighters in the original BKB.
He traveled to America and fought Des Green for the vacant BKB middleweight belt in 2022, losing by stoppage.
McHugh rebounded with four straight wins before Liam “Rocky” Rees stopped him in a super welterweight title bout in 2024. McHugh then went on another win streak before facing Dy.
McHugh walks away with a 16-6 record and a legacy as a top fighter of his era.
