BKB Super Welterweight Champion Rolando “DyIncredible” Dy has re-signed with the organisation.
The Filipino warrior inked a “multi-fight” extension with BKB Bare Knuckle Boxing. The promotion announced the deal Tuesday.
Dy (6-1, 5 KOs) successfully defended his title for the first time earlier this month at BKB 54 in Manchester with a second-round KO of Paulie Malignaggi. Dy pummeled the former boxing champion, scoring two knockdowns before Malignaggi was counted out in the second round.
After the fight, Dy mentioned his contract was expiring in his postfight interview. He got a new contract less than 2 weeks later, indicating BKB Bare Knuckle Boxing has plans for the MMA veteran.
The 35-year-old, the son of former world boxing champion Rolando Navarette, is on a four-fight win streak after a points loss to contender Martin Refell. Dy’s victims include Roberto Duran Jr, previously unbeaten Liam Rees, and Malignaggi, who attempted to become a two sport world champion at age 45.
Possible future opponents for Dy include former BKB champion Scott “The Mute” McHugh and perhaps even BKB middleweight and super middleweight boss Lorawnt-T “Smash” Nelson. Nelson has cleaned out the super middleweight division, and a champ vs champ matchup with either super welterweight boss Dy or BKB Light Heavyweight Champion Cub Hawkins would be great match ups.
