Tomorrow night, Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship celebrates its eighth birthday with a fight night in Hollywood, Florida. The Philadelphia-based promotion is back at its home away from home, The Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. Fans can catch all the action on the BKFC+ App beginning at 7pm ET Thursday (12am Friday in the UK).
The main event is the classic matchup between the rising contender and former champion. Undefeated Bryce Henry (6-0, 6 KOs) takes on former champion Julian “Let me Bang” Lane (9-10) in a fight in the red-hot welterweight division.
Henry has dominated his opponents, and defeated previously unbeaten Roberto Peralta, veteran Tom Shoaff, and current BKB contender Brandon Shavers. But none of those fighters were former champions like Lane. And none had the experience and pedigree of the onetime The Ultimate Fighter cast member.
Lane is a savvy veteran and future Hall of Famer. Don’t let his record deceive you. He defeated then 17-0 Jimmy Sweeney in his pro debut, and has faced the likes of Sweeney, Mike Perry, David Mundell, current champ Dustin Pague, and others in a career that has taken him to England, Russia and all over the United States.
Lane lost to Pague by extra round decision earlier this year. The narrow defeat cost Lane the BKFC welterweight belt and snapped a five-bout win streak. Facing Henry is a big gamble for the 38-year-old. If he wins, he’s back in the title fight conversation for defeating a hot prospect. A loss means he’ll have to work his way back into contention.
Former champion Gorjan “Gogo” Slaveski (7-1) faces Jonny Tello (3-2) in the BKFC Fight Night co-main event. Slaveski’s only loss is a decision to Lane. Tello is on a two-fight win streak, and became the first man to take Barrie Jones the distance, losing by decision in January 2023.
Cruiserweight veteran Stephen “Tomahawk” Townsel faces Mike Jones in the featured fight. Townsel defeated Julio Perez in an exciting battle in his last fight.
Perez is also on the card against Lamont Stafford.
