Former BKFC Heavyweight Champion Mick Terrill has stepped in on late notice to face BKB champion Gustavo Trujillo Saturday at BKB 58 in Miami. BKB announced the matchup late Wednesday evening.
Terrill replaces original title challenger Mark O’Neill, who withdrew because of visa issues. Big Mick was supposed to commentate at the event but now he’ll be battling it out in the main event against the fearsome “Cuban Assassin”.
“The second I heard Mark was out, I knew this was my moment, so I demanded they put me in,” Terrill said.
“I’ve always said I’ll fight any man, any time, any where. Here’s the proof.”
“I’ve wanted this title for a long time and now I can prove why I’m the number one heavyweight in bare knuckle boxing. This is my shot and I’m taking it. Miami, get ready. I’m on my way,” he said.
There’s not a long line of men waiting to face Trujillo, (8-0, all wins by first-round KO). According to the Cuban, Terrill may be getting in over his head.
“Be careful what you wish for. Mick wanted this fight so badly, and now he’s got it. Eight opponents made the same mistake of getting in that ring with me and none of them saw round two,” said Trujillo.
BKB Bare Knuckle Boxing CEO David Tetreault said the Trujillo-Terrill fight, one of the most anticpated heavyweight fights in the sport, “is exactly what BKB is about. Real fighters, real fights, no waiting around.”
“Mick Terrill wanted a world title shot, so we’re giving him one, and it doesn’t get more 50/50 than a man that brave against a champion that dangerous,” he said.
“Straight in, let’s go, Miami. If you don’t have your tickets yet, get them now, because the last ones are about to fly out the door.”
