BKFC Welterweight Champion Austin “No Doubt” Trout and former BKB champ Rico Franco faced off yesterday in Marbella.
Trout defends his belt for the first time against Franco Saturday at BKFC Spain live on DAZN.
At yesterday’s presser, Trout spoke of being a champion in two sports: professional boxing and bare knuckle fighting. Trout is a well-regarded former boxing champion, who faced the likes of Canelo Alvarez, Miguel Cotto, and Erislandy Lara during his accomplished career.
“Two-sport world champion. This one means the most. Cause there’s a reconfirmation of what I’ve always known in my mind. That I’m a bad man in that ring. And these fists are special,” Trout said, fielding a question from BKFC commentator Sean Wheelock.
“It takes a special person to go and be the top of one game and then come to this brutal game, that ain’t for everybody,” said Trout.
Franco promised “On Saturday night this right hand is going to crunch on his skull.”
The former BKB champion will enter the ring as an underdog to Trout, who showcased his world-class boxing skills in schooling Luis Palomino to win the belt earlier this year.
“He sounds punchy, right? Can we get subtitles for that,” Trout joked after Franco spoke.
The two had words at the face off following the press conference. Trout pointed to his belt during the conversation, perhaps telling Franco that the hardware would be going back with Trout to his home of New Mexico, USA.
