Connor Tierney captured the inaugural BKFC UK Welterweight Title, winning a thrilling decision over Jonny Graham Saturday in Coventry.
It was an exciting and evenly matched battle. Both men were knocked down and the fight seemed close going into the last round. Birmingham’s Tierney s dug deep and got the better of the round five exchanges to seal the win.
It was Tierney’s first bout since a late-round stoppage loss to |Jake Lindsey last year. He improved his bare knuckle record to 8-2 (3-1 BKFC) with the win. Graham is now 2-1.
Chipchase Remains Unbeaten; Cooke Victorious
In the BKFC 64 co-main event, Manchester’s Jonno Chipchase improved to 3-0, all wins by stoppage.
Chipchase cut and dropped veteran Toby Bindon early in round one. After two more knockdowns, the referee stopped the fight.
Ireland’s Connor Cooke rebounded from an April loss to Dawid Oscar. Cooke knocked out Mason Shaw in the first round. A Cooke right hand ended matters at the 1:34 mark.
