BKFC 93: Spectacular Perdomo Earns Knucklemania Title Shot

Number one heavyweight contender Leonardo Perdomo (12-0, 12 KOs) finally earned a title opportunity with a first-round knockout of Bear Hill (3-2) Friday at BKFC 93 in Hollywood, Florida.

Seconds after the opening bell, Perdomo came forward with a left hook that missed, followed by two more that connected and knocked Hill to the canvas. Hill, a late substitute for Anothony Garrett, gamely tried but couldn’t beat the count.

Official time was 14 seconds.

Perdomo to Challenge Arlovski at next year’s Knucklemania in Miami

After the bout, Perdomo called for a title shot and BKFC President David Feldman confirmed he’ll face champion Arlei Arlovski at Knucklemania next February.

“BKFC loves Miami. It loves its Cuban fighters. We got one of the best heavyweights in the world here tonight,” said Feldman.

“The answer is absolutely, 100 percent yes. We love Miami so much we’re bringing Knucklemania to Miami this year.”

“And it’ll be Leonardo Perdomo against Andrei Arlovski for the heavyweight championship. LET’s GO,” said Feldman.

Bryan Duran Defeats Felony Bennett, Extends Win Streak

In the BKFC 93 co-feature, former title challenger Bryan Duran (9-1-1) extended his unbeaten streak to four fights with a unanimous decision over veteran Charles “Felony” Bennett (1-5).

Duran was the younger, stronger fighter and knocked Bennett down in round one. A disoriented Bennett searched for his corner between rounds.

But Bennett is a crafty veteran and he returned the favour in round three, knocking Duran down with a cheeky counter right.

Duran regained the initiative, and landed some good body shots before dropping Bennett again with a late fifth-round onslaught. All three judges scored the bout 48-44 for “Cash Cow” over the unorthodox Bennett.

“Feldman, don’t bother me no more unless it’s Kai, man. Straight up,” said Duran, when asked by BKFC’s Chris Lytle if he wanted another shot at BKFC Featherweight Champion Kai Stewart. Stewart handed Duran his only loss, a unanimous decision defeat in a title bout in June 2024.

“Don’t bother me no more. Don’t call me no more. Unless it’s Kai. Or a million dollars,” he said.

Andrew Strode Wins Number One Contender Showdown With Gee Perez

The BKFC 93 Featured Fight was a rematch between bantamweight contenders Andrew Strode and Gee Perez. Strode had defeated Perez via TKO last year in an interim title fight.

Stroud got the win again in a back-and-forth rematch which saw both fighters hit the canvas.

The fight was stopped by the ringside physician before the start of the fourth round. Perez had a huge swelling on the right side of his forehead and was cut and swollen underneath his left eye also.

Strode earned a title shot at the winner of the October 17 bout between BKFC Bantamweight Champion Jamel Herring and John Dodson with the victory. Stroud dedicated the win to family members who passed away after praising Perez for a great fight.

“I want to dedicate this to my grandma, my Uncle Butch, my son who passed away. This is for you,” said Strode.

“I worked my ass off the last two months to be great. And fight a great fighter. I did it for them,” he said.

Strode also dedicated the fight to the victims of 9/11. Yesterday was the 25th anniversary of the tragic terrorist attack on New York’s Twin Towers.

Mohawk Rodriguez Blasts Out Tomahawk Townsel

BKFC cruiserweight champion Esteban “Mohawk” Rodriguez stopped former contender Steve “Tomahawk” Townsel in just 46 seconds.

Mohawk went after Townsel from scratch and the two traded punches, a Rodriguez left dropping Townsel.

Townsel got up and the two continued trading. Rodriguez took Tomahawk’s shots well and his own punches did more damage, knocking the local hero down for the second time.

Townsel got up after referee Chris Young counted nine but was unsteady and the fight was waved off.

The Rodriguez-Townsel fight was fought at ironweight, BKFC’s new weight division with a 225lb pound weight limit. Lytle asked Mohawk if he would defend his cruiserweight belt (205 lb limit) against unbeaten contender Lex Ludlow.

“That little teddy bear? Listen, that little chimichanga has no idea what’s coming. I’ll mop the floor with people like you. So, mark my words. Your time is up, partner,” said Rodriguez.

Russo, Randall Victorious

In other notable BKFC 93 bouts, bantamweight Matt “Rambo” Russo improved to 5-1 with a fourth-round stoppage win over Jancarlos Rivera (3-2). It was Rivera’s first loss in BKFC competition.

Flyweight contender Tyler Randall (5-4) eeked out a majority decision win over Chris Garcia (6-2). The win snapped a two-bout losing streak.
