BKFC Fight Night Australia: Kuhne vs Curran Results

BKFC is back in Australia for the second time today at the Eaton Hills Hotel in Eaton Hills, Queensland.

It was a night of quick finishes- seven of the eight bouts ended by stoppage in the first or second round. None of the bouts went the distance, and the Whitehead vs Winnett war was the only fight to go to a fourth round.

Timothy Randal def. Ahmad Muhtaseb-KO Round 1
In the opening bout, Timothy Randal (1-0) scored a first-round knockout over Ahmad Muhtaseb (0-1) in a battle of debuting welterweights. The action started fast with Muhtaseb catching Randle with a good right that stunned him. Muhtaseb continued coming forward but Randle settled down and soon caught Muhtaseb with a right and follow up shots that dropped Muhtaseb for the count.

Mel Tolone def. Ricky Rowles-Brown-KO Round 1
Powerful Tolone (2-1, 2 KOs) made quick work of Rowles-Brown (0-2) in a heavyweight bout. Official stoppage time was 41 seconds.

The fighters felt each other out before Tolone stepped in with a right. Tolone got half-Thai plum and unloaded with right uppercuts, dropping Rowles-Brown. Rowles-Brown couldn’t beat the count and the fight was stopped.

Hunter Ioane def. Luke Bampton- KO Round 1
Ioane used his boxing skills to prevail in a rematch of an April 2026 battle won by Ioane via third-round stoppage.

Bampton was the aggressor and Ioane did a nice job of timing him as he came forward, catching him with jabs and rights. Ioane mixed in some rights to the body nicely.

Late in round one, Ioane unloaded with Bampton near the ropes, some big rights getting through. Bampton went down and beat the count as the bell ended the round. The referee didn’t like what he saw and waved the fight off.

Mario Loga def. Alvin Kanehailua-TKO Round 1
Loga (1-0) dropped Kanehailua, Hawaiian-born but fighting out of New Zealand, seconds into the bout with a right hand. Kanehailua (0-2) got up but was dropped by another right seconds later.

Loga decked Kanehailua with another right and veteran referee Kerry Hatley waved off the fight. Official time was 47 seconds.

Micky Whitehead def. Ryan Winnett-TKO Round 4
Whitehead (1-1) got the better of Winnett (1-1) in an exciting brawl and Fight of the Night candidate.

Whitehead pressed the action throughout and landed some big shots on Winnett, who took them well. The two set a torrid pace in round one and both men’s faces showed the battle’s effects.

Winnett was outlanded by Whitehead, who continued coming forward. In round three, Whitehead dropped a tiring Winnett. Winnett responded by firing back with some big shots before the bell.

Whitehead was cut and had some facial swelling. He was checked by the doctor before round four. He started quickly and landed cleanly on an exhausted Winnett. After Whitehead snapped Winnett’s head back, Winnett had no legs under him and staggered, leading to a referee stoppage.

“He’s country tough. Fucking hell,” Whitehead said, when asked by BKFC’s Chris Lytle if he was surprised Winnett took so much punishment.

“His jab is really good. I like to take the jab away with the widowmaker here. He ate a few.”

“All respect to him, he had another great victory tonight, I want to fight Hunter *Ioane),” he said, when asked who he would like to fight next.

An Ioane-Whitehead fight would be an exciting all-Australian style matchup between a pressure fighter in Whitehead and a boxer in Ioane.

Santo Joma def. Viktor Lyall-TKO Round 2
The featured fight matched debuting middleweights. Joma, originally from South Sudan, was too much for Lyall.

It was a contrast of styles. The taller Joma had a more open hands-down style while Lyall kept his guard tight. Joma landed a big left late in a round one where both men had good moments.

Joma dropped Lyall with a nice blend of punches in round two. Lyall got up, with Joma banging shots to head and body. With nothing coming back from Lyall, referee Hatley called the fight.

Mark Flanagan def. Kaylib Heke-KO Round 2
Former boxing contender Flanagan (1-1) earned his first bare knuckle victory with a spectacular second-round knockout over late replacement Heke (0-1).

Heke participated in a tryout for BKFC’s 2027 “World’s Baddest Man” tournament earlier this week. He accepted the fight with Flanagan on just a day or two’s notice.

Heke did well, given such short notice, but Flanagan showed more composure and showcased his boxing skills. “Bam Bam” had unsuccesfully challenged Russia’s Denis Lebedev for the WBA Cruiserweight Title in 2017.

In round two, Heke stepped inside and was caught by a huge Flanagan right that knocked him face first to the canvas.

Josh Kuhne def. Shaun Curran-TKO Round 1
The fight card’s last bout pitted unbeaten Kuhne (1-0) against the debuting Curran, an Ireland native with a kickboxing backgro
Curran came at Kuhne, who landed a short uppercut in the clinch that dropped Curran. An overexcited Kuhne hit Curran while he was down and was warned by referee Hatley.

After the restart, Kuhne dropped Curran again with shots from the clinch. Curran was unsteady after he got up but Hatley let the fight continue. Kuhne quickly knocked Curran down again and the fight was stopped at the 58-second mark of round one.
