BYB Extreme Bare Knuckle made its debut in Wolverhampton tonight with an 11-bout fight card steamed on BKB World pay-per-view.
It was entertaining night of action, with plenty of knockouts.
Welsh Heavyweight Palmer Improves to 2-0
In the opener, Troy Palmer of Wales improved to 2-0 (2 KOs). Palmer stopped Peter Radford (1-2-4) in the first round of a heavyweight bout. A right hand caught Radford late in the round, dropping him for the count.
Ouba Nicks Close Decision
The nights second bout was a lightweight match up between debuting fighters. Since both fighters were debutants, they fought over four 2-minute rounds.
Libya’s Rawand Ouba, fighting out of Norway, took on London’s Plamedy Mianteolo.
Ouba decked Ouba with a left seconds into round one. Mianteolo recovered, looking to counter, fighting off the back foot.
Ouba remained the aggressor with Mianteolo looking the counter. The pattern continued, with the judges favouring the aggressor by scores of 38-37 across the board.
Patterson vs Nash: NO CONTEST
The welterweight bout between Ty Patterson and Patrick Nash was ruled a no contest. Patterson hurt his knee in round two and was unable to continue.
Knuckle to the Eye
The next bout was a light heavyweight bout between unbeaten Gareth Williams of Wales and BKFC veteran Jimmy Millar.
Williams was the aggressor, while the southpaw Millar looked to land the straight left. The Welsh fighter mixed his shots nicely to body and head.
After a separation with Millar on the ropes, Williams caught him a left jab that landed in Millar’s left eye area. Millar went down and couldn’t beat the count, giving Williams his fourth stoppage win in as many bouts. Millar is now 1-2.
McCallum Stops McDonough
The BYB 33 main card began with a match up between BKB veteran Aaron McCallum and Martin McDonough.
There was some great action in round one. McCallum tried to land big wide right hands. McDonough scored a knockdown and did some good clinch work. McCallum continued coming forward, and got the better of the action in round two. McDonough’s left eye was cut and there was swelling underneath.
McCallum continued scoring with the right, and the doctor looked at McDonough’s eye. The fight continued but was stopped after McDonough’s eye got worse.
Greenwood Defeats Eliffe
Tyrone Eliffe came out dressed as The Joker.
But it was Kevin Greenwood who laughed last.
Greenwood (3-1-1), a 14-fight pro boxing veteran, pressed the taller Eliffe (5-1). Eliffe landed some good shots on the outside but was less effective as the fight wore on.
Greenwood blocked punches with his forearms and looked to land left hooks. Clinching was frequent, with Eliffe grabbing the smaller man as he got inside.
Eliffe lost two points for fouls. In round two, he sent Greenwood to the mat with a MMA takedown. Another point was taken later in the fight for an unspecified infraction.
Official scores were 48-44 (twice) and 47-45 for Greenwood. It’s the first loss for Eliffe but a fight he can learn from.
Kamil Sokolowski Stuns Ike Villanueva
Pro boxing veteran Kamil Sokolowski (3-0, 3 KOs) handed former BYB Heavyweight Champion Ike Villanueva (3-2, 3 KOs) his second straight defeat, stopping the UFC veteran in round one.
Sokolowski got Villanueva’s attention with a right uppercut during an early exchange. Moments later, he dropped Villanueva with a left- right combo after evading Villanueva punches. Ike got up with blood trickling down from his forehead.
Sokolowski dropped Villanueva for the second time with a jab. A bloodied Villanueva beat the count but the referee stopped the fight.
The Polish fighter showed he’s a force to be reckoned with in the BYB heavyweight division.
Skane Impressive
Former amateur boxing standout Kallum Skhane impressed in his bare knuckle debut, stopping hometown fighter Ryan Meer in one round. Skane showed impressive hands and footwork. The Welsh fighter dropped Meer four times in a one-sided bout. Meer was also making his debut.
Smith Stops Massey
Luke “Scrap King” Smith improved to 2-0 in bare knuckle with a win against Nathan Massey. Massey went down a couple of times in the third, and the fight was waved off. Massey slips to 0-4.
Podmore Beats Barrett Again
Former BKB champion Dan “Big Pod” Podmore won the BYB Bridgerweight Title with a first-round stoppage over Ryan Barrett.
Barrett started fast but Pod answered back, staggering Barrett to the ropes with a left. The two fighters were throwing bombs. Late in the round, Barrett fell flat on is face from a Podmore combination. It’s Podmores 2nd win over Barrett-he previously beat him in BKB.
22-Second Victory for Marko Martinjak
In the BYB 33 main event, Marko Martinjak won the BYB Cruiserweight Title with a quick knockout over UFC vet Brad Scott.
Markinjak threw a couple of lefts, before connecting with a nasty left-hook uppercut that caught Scott in the eye before a follow up right hand.
Scott went down and couldn’t beat the count. Official time was 22 seconds.
Martinjak improves his record to 10-2 with the win. The Croatian has won four in a row since a loss to Jarome Hatch in 2023. All four wins have come by KO-three in the first round.
