BKB Super Welterweight Champion Rolando Dy is brimming with confidence heading into Saturday night’s showdown with Paulie Malignaggi in Manchester.
The Filipino MMA veteran turned bare knuckler believes he has too many tools for the former boxing champion. Dy and Malignaggi collide in the BKB 54: Mayhem in Manchester event at the famed AO Arena. The event streams live on Vice Sports in North America and the TalkSPORT Boxing YouTube Channel in the UK.
” I have the speed. I have the accuracy. I have the power. I have the timing. I have the strength,” Dy told BKB Bare Knuckle Boxing’s Gareth A Davies during Wednesday’s media and public workout.
“I have all the techniques. Inside the clinch. I can fight outside. I believe I’m the most complete (in) bare knuckle boxng now in the world.”
You can’t fault the champion for his confidence. Dy (5-1, 4 KOs) has shown outstanding skills in his five BKB appearances.
He stopped then unbeaten George Hillyard, a former pro boxer, in his debut. After a decision loss to contender Martin Refell in his second bout, Dy hasn’t tasted defeat. After stoppage wins over Hayden Sheriff and contender Roberto Duran Jr, Dy outboxed hometown hero Liam “Rocky” Rees to win the BKB title last December in Cardiff. Along the way, Dy has indeed shown strong clinch skills and heavy hands, as well as ring savvy and underrated boxing skills.
“It sounds like I’m bragging. Actually, I’m not,” he told Davies.
“I’m just knowing my gameplan, myself. Knowing the enemy. I know myself and I know Paulie.”
“I will finish him before round four.”
Davies asked Dy about his Plan A and Plan B for the fight.
“Plan A is to knock him out. Plan B is to make him quit,” he said.
