BKB Bare Knuckle Boxing announced the signing of former English boxing champion and unbeaten bare knuckler Dec Spelman to a multi-fight contract.
Spelman (3-0 in bare knuckle and 19-6 as a professional boxer) will debut for the organisation on 16 May at BKB 54: Mayhem in Manchester. He’ll face veteran Kevin Greenwood as part of the massive fight card taking place at the AO Arena.
Spelman has impressed thus far in his three ungloved appearances. He won a shutout unanimous decision over Tomas Lejsek in his debut in March 2025.
In his next bout, Spelman stopped Dawid Chylinski in two rounds. Chylinski entered the bout with a respectable record of 4-2. Spelman stopped debuting John Redmond in his last bout in Newcastle last month.
It’s no accident Spelman will make his BKB debut in Manchester. The fighter hails from close by Scunthorpe, less than two hours away by car or train.
Spelman’s professional boxing career began in 2014 and ended in 2022. He shared the ring with some of Britain’s top light heavyweights, namely Anthony Yarde, Lyndon Arthur, and Shakan Pitters.
The highlight of Spelman’s gloved boxing career came in May 2019 when he defeated Kirk Garvey by unanimous decision for the English Light Heavyweight Title. He lost the title to Pitters by decision.
The talented Spelman is a solid addition to the BKB roster. He’s been fighting around the 200 lb mark, so he’ll probably campaign at cruiserweight.
Greenwood (4-3-1, 3 KOs) will be Spelman’s most experienced bare knuckle opponent to date. “The Green Machine” is coming off a first-round stoppage win at BKB 51: Heavy Lies the Crown in London in February.
