Austin Trout & Kai Stewart Defend BKFC Titles in Dubai

BKFC Welterweight king and former WBA champion Austin Trout’s next fight is official.

The fighter known as “No Doubt” will defend his belt at the massive BKFC Dubai two-day event, taking place on 4 and 5 April at the Dubai Tennis Stadium.

Trout (BKFC record 3-0, 1 KO) will take on top-ranked contender Carlos Trinidad-Snake (6-0, 4 KOs) in the 4 April main event.

Trout comes off an impressive unanimous decision over former BKB champ Rico Franco, knocking Franco down twice en route to a five-round unanimous decision win. He won every round on the judges’ scorecards.

It was his third straight dominant win. Trout stopped UFC veteran Diego Sanchez in his debut before outclassing Luis Palomino to win the BKFC Welterweight Title. No fighter in BKFC’s short history has been on Trout’s level as a boxer.

Trinidad-Snake stopped newcomer Zachary Juusola in his last bout. He earned the fight with Trout with wins against former champion Elvin Brito and Dustin Pague. A proud Native American, the Winnebago tribe warrior has shown excellent bare knuckle skills, but facing Trout will be a major challenge.

Kai Stewart vs Tommy Strydom

Montana’s Stewart (7-0, 2 KOs) is a homegrown BKFC star and one of the sport’s brighest young talents. The 24-year-old former collegiate wrestler will defend his BKFC Featherweight Title for the fourth time on 5 April in the main event.

Challenging Stewart will be unbeaten South African Tommy Strydom (4-0, 3 KOs). Strydom comes off a stoppage win at last weekend’s BKFC Fight Night Newcastle event.

Strydom’s opposition has a combined record of 3-4. So, his unbeaten record is deceiving. Stewart has faced a much higher level of opposition, defeating Howard Davis, Bryan Duran, Jimmie Rivera and veteran Rusty Crowder.

The pick here is for Stewart to win big against the older, less-experienced, untested Strydom.

Full BKFC Dubai Fight Card to Be Announced

Two more matches have been announced, in addition to the title fights.

Bellator veteran Sabah Homasi (1-0) faces BKB veteran Jonny Tello (2-2) in a middleweight fight. Tello is the only man to go the distance with Welsh legend Barrie Jones, losing a seven-round unanimous decision in January 2023 at BKB Thailand.

Homasi vs Tello takes place on 4 April, the same day as Trout-Trinidad.

Also on 4 April, Britain’s Marcus Pond (1-1) faces Mladen Iliev (1-0) of Bulgaria in another middleweight match up.

More fights are to be added. The BKFC Dubai two-day event taking place on 4 and 5 April will stream on the BKFC + App, which costs just $7.99 USD per month.
