Kai Stewart to Defend BKFC Title Against Jimmie Rivera

Undefeated BKFC Featherweight Champion Kai Stewart will risk his crown against UFC vet Jimmie Rivera. BKFC announced the fight Tuesday.

The featherweight title fight headlines BKFC on DAZN 2, taking place on 9 November in Billings, Montana, USA.

Stewart makes his third title defence. He captured the title from another Montana resident Louie Lopez last year, and has successfully defended the belt twice.

In his last defence, Stewart impressively defeated Bryan Duran by unanimous decision in the challenger’s home state of Florida. Stewart has become one of BKFC’s brightest young stars. At 24, the former wrestler could become an all-time great of the modern bare knuckle era, if he continues to improve and successfully vanquish opponents. He’s 6-0 with the gloves off.

Rivera defeated former Bellator fighter Daniel Straus in his last bout. He’s got 2 wins and a draw in four bare knuckle bouts. His only loss is to fellow UFC vet Jeremy Stephens by stoppage.

Fighting Stewart in his home state will be a tough battle for Rivera. But anything can happen when you get hit with a bare fist, and Rivera will be a dangerous underdog.

Two other bouts are official for BKFC on DAZN 2.

Former boxing contender Alfredo Angulo takes on veteran Julian Lane. Angulo won his debut at Knucklemania IV in April. He’ll take on one of the toughest men in bare knuckle in “Let me Bang” Lane, a UFC veteran with extensive no gloves experience.

Lane has defeated the legendary Jimmy Sweeney. He’s also been in the ring and acquitted himself well against Mike Perry and David Rickels in losses. Lane is currently on a two-fight win streak. He’ll undoubtedly be motivated to spoil Angulo’s record, as a win against a former boxer of “Perro’s” stature will add luster to the veteran’s CV.

In the other official matchup, undefeated Carlos Trinidad-Snake (5-0) takes on Zach ‘The Juice’ Juusola (1-0) in welterweight match up. The BKFC welterweight belt is currently held by Austin “No Doubt” Trout.
