Rising welterweight Cameron “Jumpman” VanCamp will face hard-hitting former BKB champ Gregoris Cisneros on 26 June. The welterweight bout headlines BKFC Fight Night Hammond 2 at the Hammond Casino in Hammond, Indiana.
It’s the second straight bout in Hammond for VanCamp, who hails from nearby Indianapolis. A 23-fight pro MMA veteran with two UFC bouts, VanCamp has proven to be a force in BKFC’s Squared Circle.
VanCamp (3-2, 2 KOs) has won three of his past four since a decision loss in his debut. His only recent blemish is a stoppage defeat to former champion Julian Lane.
In his last bout, VanCamp defeated pro boxing veteran Derrick Findley at BKFC Fight Night Hammond 1 last October. Standing 6 feet 2 inches tall, “Jumpman” is unusually tall for the welterweight (165 lbs) division.
Cisneros makes his BKFC debut after a memorable stint in BKB. The hard-punching Venezuelan, who will be fighting just 20 minutes away from his adopted hometown of Chicago, previously held the BKB Light Heavyweight Title.
Cisneros battered and stopped Cub Hawkins to win the belt but lost it in his first defence to Barrie Jones. Cisneros (4-2, 3 KOs) also knocked out veteran Rene “Whiteboy” Rodriguez and Erik Lopez during his time with BKB. He’ll be facing VanCamp after a 16-month layoff.
It’s an intriguing matchup. Will VanCamp try to use his height and reach advantages or work his solid inside game and try to wear Cisneros down? Will Cisneros’s power be too much for VanCamp? We’ll find out on 26 June.
The Last Stand for Arnold Adams?
In a heavyweight bout, two-time BKFC heavyweight champ Arnold “AJ” Adams (7-5, 5 KOs) faces Steve “Panda” Banks (4-3, 4 KOs).
Adams has struggled in recent years. After regaining the title with a decision over Joey Beltran in 2021, Adams successfully defended the title once before a stoppage loss to Alan Belcher.
In his next bout, Adams faced Mick Terrill in a rematch of a 2021 bout won by Adams. Terrill avenged his previous defeat by fourth-round stoppage.
Back-to-back first round knockout losses to current top rated contender Leonardo Perdomo followed. Adams will look for his first win in four years and try to snap a four bout losing streak, all defeats by stoppage.
Now 40, a fifth straight loss to Banks could be the end of his days as a heavyweight contender. It’s a must win for Banks too, who was stopped by Haze Hepi in his last bout at BKFC Florence last year.
BKFC President David Feldman said the organisation is looking forward to its Hammond return.
““Our first event this past October at The Venue at Horseshoe Casino was a tremendous sold-out success and we’re thrilled to promote another action-packed BKFC card there on June 26,” said Feldman.
BKFC Fight Night Hammond 2 will stream live on the BKFC+ App. The event starts at 7pm local CST time, which is 8pm EST and 1am Saturday in the UK.
